In September, 2008, work began on Pueblo del Lago, a highly planned gated community of 44 homes bordering Lake Arenal at the village of San Luis, about 10 minutes from Tilaran on the paved road to Tronadora. Buyers must buy one of the two builder designed homes here along with their choice of lot. The development company will then build the home. The community is to have an entrance booth and 24-hour security. Buyers will be given a choice of two home models, a 2 BR 2 BA home or a 3 BR 2 BA home with various optional extras, including a partial furniture package and a full furniture package. Lots vary in size from about 3/4 acre to 1 1/2 acres. A buyer will find a price range of about $220,000 to about $260,000, depending on the size of the lot and the choice from the two home models. Also contemplated is a small condo complex with prices under $200,000. The community will include a clubhouse with pool, recreational areas, benches and lighting along natural walkways, A water pumping station and a wastewater treatment plant are included in the plans. Almost adjoining the development is Puerto San Luis Lodge and Yacht Club where there is a restaurant as well as a dock and moorage on San Luis Cove.
There's 24/7 security with a massive entry gate and guard booth. The community has a clubhouse and pool as well as other communal features.
