Funky tropical might describe this property several miles out the Venado road from Nuevo Arenal. Both the rental cabina and the home are of rather basic construction, but yet there is extraordinary pleasure in the immediate tropically fertile setting and the sweeping forest, lake, and mountain views, including Arenal Volcano (obscured by clouds during our visit). Most of the 1 1/4 acres is fairly level with broad lawns, ornamental plants, and fruit trees. In front, however, the property is fortunate to drop steeply to a lushly forested quebrada with a stream. Water from a well in that low area of the property is pumped to large tank providing a plentiful supply for the house, cabina, and gardens. It is a peaceful area with infrequent traffic on the road.
The 1BR 1BA house withhuge veranda has great lake and also volcano views.
The property has a beautiful setting and seems well worth upgrading the structures.
A long driveway leads from the Venado road, removing it from the occasional vehicle noise on the lightly-traveled. The house has a small patio in back and a very large lakeview veranda in front.

The tiled veranda is great for enjoying the vistas and balmy weather whille protected from the occasional rain. The view from the veranda takes in a great swath of the lake including the Rio Chiquito estuary on the west side.
The broad patio with beautiful views (especially on less cloudy days) of lake and volcano allows much of home life to take place outdoors, relishing the beauty and balmy climate of tropical life.
The house is not impressively constructed but there is a funky attractive warmth to it. The kitchen is servicable though not North American modern.
The dining area is part of a large open plan which includes the partially separated kitchen.
A rental cabina with a roofed outdoor activity area is 50 yards from the main house. The cabina interior is not luxurious but it comfortably provides the necessities.
Tropical funkiness also characterizes the rental cabina where one can lounge with abandon.
Alarge water tank provides a constant water supply to the buildings and gardens. It is filled by pump from a well in the quebrada in front of the property. The property includes steep slopes in front that descent to a forested stream where there is a well that supplies water to the property.
The acreage is largely level but on the lake side it descends abruptly to a forested stream in a "quebrada." A well situated in in this low area is fitted with a pump that keeps the water tank filled for use in the house, cabina, and gardens.
There are many ornamentals as well as some fruit trees on the property. This view includes the mouth of the beautiful Rio Chiquito on the other side of the lake.
Beauty is found in the landscaping close at hand and in the spectacular distant vistas.
