B10 Famous Toad Hall back on market in bad condition at low price - $250,000 |
The present |
We have been tracking Toad Hall's condition for the last three years. While it was a "turn-key" business to start with, we found in January, 2010, that everything had been stripped from the two houses on the property as well as the gift shop and restaurant. We kept trying to locate the former owner, who was reported to have severe health problems, finally talked to the man foreclosing on it, and dropped it from our website this past summer. Immediately below are 2 recent photos of its current condition. Below those is our original listing. Other real estate websites at Lake Arenal still display photos of the place in its prime and tout it as a turn-key business opportunity, but it will take considerable work to restore this famous tourist stop to its previous funky glory. The lake and volcano-view acreage is valuable as is the location beside the lake highway on the busy tourist route between La Fortuna, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, the Pacific beaches, and the international airport at Liberia. It is between the dam and Nuevo Arenal at the village of La Union. The terrain below the shy half acre falls off steeply to tropical forest bordering the lake. A person of enterprise might do well to restore the historic business and buildings or to make something entirely new. |
