B28 6 1/4 promising acres near San Luis Cove - $1,450,000
Pick your favorite geographical feature - meadow, glen, hill, dale, plateau, forest, vista - this superbly located 6+ acres is likely to have it. Quinta Don Martin has had a long history as a family compound or country house overlooking Lake Arenal just around the point from picturesque San Luis Cove. Its former owner for years provided fishing tours from the peaceful cove, which today is turning into a watersports mecca thanks largely to the dock and moorage buoys provded by Puerto San Luis Lodge and Yacht Club and the appearance of sailing, wakeboarding, and water-skiing enterprises. After the death of the patriarch, the family finally sold the quinta, and it was marked for intense development, which has not materialized. Meanwhile structures deteriorated or were demolished, and it is again available with a formerly cheerful lakeview home that now could use some restoration. The sweeping lake and mountain vistas remain the same, however, and its location is even more promising, since the western side borders the paved road near the village of San Luis less than 10 minutes from Costa Rica's best town, Tilaran. Anoither part of the property borders on the lane down to the yacht club, putting it only 300 yards from the marina.
The Quinta San Martin has wide views of Lake Arenl and the northern volcanos.
The quinta acres descend toward the 50-meter forest that rings Lake Arenal. This view looks across the lake to Santa Elena Island and, behind the island, the town of Nuevo Arenal.
A bodega and a house, both ready for teardown, remain on the quinta. This entry gate to the former family compound is beside the paved road to Tronadora.
From the highway to Tronadora, a dell intervenes, the remaining buildings on the small lakeview mesa beyond.
The entrance from the highway is a modest gate topped by the name of the property, Quinta Don Martin.
Between the property and the lake lies the forested 50-meter setback that rings the lake. The property continues beyond a wooded middle to a beautiful meadow beside the ICE forest.
Looking toward the northwest, where three dormant volcanos can often be seen, it's obvious that the views are unobstructed. From a bit of pasture near the summit of the property, the land extends through woods to a meadow bounded by thick forest.
The property is just out of sight to the left of San Luis Cove. A fertile hollow lies beside the San Luis-Tronadora road at the top of the property.
Here's San Luis Cove and the yacht club. Quinta Don Martin is not far around the point.
Beyond a fertile dale is one of the houses in the village of San Luis.
This once-handsome home remains on the quinta. The entrance to San Luis Cove - active in water sports - is seen just to the est of the quinta.
One of the quinta homes remains, a once-handsome building with breezy verandas and wonderful views.
Looking toward Arenal Volcano, obscured on this day, the point of Tronadora Peninsula can be seen, marking the eastern side of the cove.
