| Rio Piedras - Rock River - is a unique village situated astride a rushing stream at the extreme western end of the lake on the lake road just as the road starts to climb into a hilly section. This is the windsurfing end of the lake where windsurfing rental and instruction businesses are located. From the river bridge houses climb up the hillside along the road and up village roads leading directly away from the lake. The properties of interest, however, are located for the most part just past Rio Piedras at the heights of the lake road where there are spectacular views down the full length of the lake to the Arenal Volcano. Also, some properties have vast territorial views to the north of the chain of dormant volcanos that proceed into Nicaragua. There are lots, acreage, and existing homes for sale in this area, which is less than 15 minutes from the town of Nuevo Arenal and thus about 45 minutes to the dam at the eastern end of the lake near the foot of the Arenal Volcano. In the other direction, it is about 25 minutes to Tilaran. In the area are Rock River Lodge, the gallery and studio of a fine artist, several cafes or restaurants, and a very funky discoteque open on weekends. | ||||
